What is a “Counter Attack” in Football

A soccer counter attack is when a team launches a quick attack having had possession of the ball turned over to them in a defensive situation. This often represents a good way for teams to score goals because the counter attacking team can take advantage of the element of surprise and exploit spaces left by players who were committed to the previous attack.
